MEET THE HARRIER: Quickly accelerating, two seasoned Harrier pilots manage a hornet's nest of information as they glance at their fuel gauges and change course: a distress call has been sounded, and vectors for assistance urgently stream into their headsets. An ambushed Marine patrol, pinned down and running out of ammunition, is in peril as enemy fighters, smelling blood, close in by the hundreds. Retreat is not an option—the Marines fire back to suppress the hailstorm raining upon them, but if they stop, even for a moment, they will be overrun. Ground commanders, realizing their dire situation, made the call for air support. Back inside the cockpits, the Harrier pilots, managing sophisticated targeting systems, are surveying the enemy already, even before the sound of their jets can be heard, and relaying pictures back to the commanders, just to be sure. Target confirmed! Approaching quickly, the pilots carefully identify the enemy positions visually, realizing they must be accurate in their attack to avoid hurting friends. The first Harrier wastes no time, screaming down and unleashing a volley of rockets that obliterate the scene. The second Harrier repeats the process. A few more passes, and the coast is confirmed clear. With fuel dwindling, the Harriers head for home, hoping they’ll meet their friends below in person some day—in a cool bar!

Spanning decades of service, the Harrier flew combat in several wars and peace-keeping missions. Along the way, it evolved into a supreme balance of form and function. It is a tribute to the art of compromise and the unwavering human spirit that eeks out the best from what it is given, for, almost at every turn, it's growth was hampered by "budget concerns" and cross-continent political bickering. Nevertheless, in spite of countless obstacles, the Harrier had to be. It is a unique, concept-vindicatiing, legendary airplane, forged by the vision of aviators and engineers who dared to dream.
