World War II Aviation
Touching every part of the globe, World War II found the earth descending into a terrible imbalance of lost liberty that thankfully--yet slowly--gave way to valiant stands for freedom and hope. Ultimately, freedom prevailed. Setting the stage for victory was Britain's defiant stand against the German Blitzkrieg juggernaut, and the determined efforts of "the few" who wrestled in the skies against fierce eagles. Then, awakening from an all-to-comfortable slumber, the United States emerged, literally turning the tide island by island, city by city, and country by country, until the menace fell and the continents of Europe, Asia, and the Pacific could breathe a sigh of relief.
In the WWII Airplanes and Aviation category, you will find examples of the airplanes that carried out this mighty conflict, a conflict that was determined in large part by air superiority and the sinister howl of flying war birds.
